Fantasy Landscaping - Your land is our land. Let's grow it green.
Our Environmental Fertilizer
Fantasy Landscaping is proud to use Alfalfa Green Soil Nutrition. Alfalfa Green is a Certified Organic, 100% synthetic chemical free solution! It is an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical fertilizers, and non-toxic (edible actually) for children and pets to play on, even immediately after spreading. Alfalfa serves as a slow-release soil amendment. This means that it does not burn your lawn the way so many chemical or traditional fertilizers will.
FACT'S & QUESTION'S REGARDING OUR ENVIRONMENTAL FERTILIZER:
Where does Soil Nutrition excell?
We consider it a multi-use product. It seems to work well in all types of situations provided the instructions are followed. Perennials and shrubs (i.e. Roses, Hostas, Day lilies, Peonies, etc.) all show added growth and blooms when treated with Soil Nutrition.
I noticed the nitrogen level is not that high - why does the product work so well?
Alfalfa Green Soil Nutrition contains a host of both macro and micro nutrients necessary for plant growth. We are only beginning to recognize the importance of micronutrients in plant growth.
Will Soil Nutrition burn my lawn?
No it will not burn in an outdoor lawn or garden situation.
Will Soil Nutrition leach into the groundwater or affect animals adversely?
Because it is 100% organic plant matter it stays in, or on, the soil where it is appled until it naturally decomposes. It does not pose any hazard to pets or wildlife.
How are the pellets made and why is it advertised to be weed-free?
The alfalfa plants are harvested and brought to the plant in a chopped condition. It is then flash dried, and forced through an extruder with steam to form the pellets. The extreme heat and pressure release the natural pectin to bind the pellets, as well as killing any weed seed viability, in fact any seed viability whatsoever.
Can I use it in container plantings?
Yes, but be sure to follow the instructions. Due to the fact Soil Nutrition decomposes rapidly when moisture is applied, it generates excessive heat and nitrogen initially which can harm container plants if it is applied excessively. Therefore the key to your success is to use the proper application rates initially and supplement your containers throughout the growing season with alfalfa tea, if needed. Are any pesticides, herbicides, irrigation or traditional fertilizers used when producing Soil Nutrition?
No, the alfalfa is grown on a rotational basis - 3 years in production and then cultivated into the soil to be reseeded. Cultivating the exisiting alfalfa plants back into the soil adds nutrients to the soil, allowing the continuing production of new alfalfa crops.
Is there some kind of plant growth promoter contained in Alfalfa Green Soil Nutrition?
It does in fact contain something called Triacontanol, a naturally occurring plant growth hormone (a straight chain fatty alcohol of 30 carbon atoms) that many believe enhances plant photosynthesis which leads to more growth or production.
How long will Soil Nutrition last?
If stored properly, not exposed to sunlight or moisture, it should keep years. Over time the nutrient levels may drop.
Has there been research done to prove this product works?
Research has been conducted and is in fact ongoing. The facilites doing various trials are:
University of Guelph - Turfgrass Research Institute
Olds College - Prairie Turfgrass Reasearch Institute
University of Southern Arizona - Field production on durham wheat
University of Saskatchewan - Growth Chamber trials
Alberta Agriculture Crop Diversification Center South - Greenhouse trials on barley
